Working Toward Her Goals

I work in a group home for teens that have been involved in human trafficking or are at high risk due to sexualized behaviors. Many of the youth have been sexually abused and are in foster care.

Although the youth started out not wanting to do this, they all did and one 16-year-old that doesn’t talk much in group really got into it. She appeared proud to share with the group what everything meant to her. She said, “Seeing things on the board make it feel more real to me.”

She took her board and willingly shared it with another staff. It appeared to give her some confidence and she posted it on her wall stating that she is working toward all of the goals. This led to deeper conversations with her at a later time.

I will show the photo of her board the next time as an example if youth are struggling with getting started.

The photo below is another Vision Board created by a teen in this same workshop.
