Reminders of Their Resilience

This workshop had two participants, both in their mid-fifties. Both ladies are starting completely over after having survived domestic violence and sexual assault. One has just moved into her own housing and the other will be moving into her own apartment by the end of the month. This will be the first time either has lived on their own and while it’s exciting, it’s also terrifying.

After we talked about what resilience is and what words or phases they felt represented resilience in their lives, they made their stones. I changed it up by offering them the opportunity to add magnets to their stones and encouraged them to use them on their refrigerators as a daily reminder of their strength and resilience.
