This six-year-old girl loves to write and will often use some of her time in art class to write in her notebooks that she brings.
Today I provided printouts of the tools we use in our DV group. I also printed a wheel that the client could use to create a wheel of choices. The client chose to use her wheel to talk about the things that are okay. In this wheel she shared that it is okay to be angry, that it is okay to be sad, and that it is okay to cry, but that it is not okay to hurt people, and then shared what she can do when she feels this way. She added pictures of breathing techniques that she uses and wrote “I am” and “I can” statements.
It was one of the first times she expressed that she is angry. She was able to write it, say it, and then talk about what she can do when she feels angry.
