The Garden of New Beginnings art workshop was hosted on March 28th by A Greater Hope’s Jenna Hepner, who is a Certified A Window Between Worlds art workshop Facilitator. To provide a safe and creative space for kinship and post-adoptive families, the class focused on how to process emotions, build connections with OCPSC resources, and foster healing through art. Participants engaged in guided art-making activities designed to encourage self-expression and exploration of Spring-related themes such as growth, resilience, and new beginnings. The workshop utilized art as a tool for communication and emotional regulation, which is especially beneficial for families navigating complex transitions and trauma.
After the workshop, Jenna introduced participants to the California Resource Guide, highlighting its sections on physical health and mental health resources – specifically for children and those without financial means. She showed each caregiver how to navigate the guide and find local help. Next, Jenna introduced the Soluna app, explaining its mindfulness and grounding exercises designed to help teens and young adults manage stress and anxiety. She then showed the Brightlife app and explained that it was a great way to support caregivers outside of A Greater Hope’s office hours.
Caregivers left the workshop with a renewed sense of hope, armed with practical resources.
