Creating a New Life

This client is a single mother of two children. She is from Mexico, came to this country seven years ago, and is undocumented. She experienced verbal, physical, and emotional abuse with her boyfriend of two years.

She is a hard-working woman who, regardless of the obstacles, finds a way to provide for and protect her children. She has actively participated in our program, sharing her experience with other clients and expressing wanting to create awareness about domestic violence.

When she created these Pride Medallions, she acknowledged her strength and commitment to a better life for her family, saying “I had never done something like this, it’s beautiful to see what I can create, and I want to create an amazing life for me and my children.”

She also shared, “I was afraid to leave my abusive partner and I believed I couldn’t survive without him. I never honor my accomplishments and this workshop helped me realized that I am strong, I am a better mom, I am beautiful and I am making the right choices. Thank you for this project, I loved it.”
