A Healing Bond

This “Uplifting Voices” video features Carl Mucha of Monterey County Rape Crisis Center in CA. A Windows Facilitator since 2024, Carl shares about the frame of mind he stepped into the training with, and contrasts it with the spirit, depth and vision he walked away with. He emerged ready to use art as a pathway to invite incarcerated survivors to replace trauma bonds with healing bonds. This work is part of a multi-year sector partnership with Just Detention International, called Rooted in Resilience and funded through the DOJ Office of Violence Against Women. This initiative will train & support 10 new Facilitators per year, for three years, to innovate transformative arts practices serving currently and formerly incarcerated survivors of trauma.
