Three Generations of Sharing

I did this workshop for myself and my family.

Following the death of George Floyd, I was having a hard time providing support to others when my own emotions were so raw. On top of that. I was feeling guilty because I felt like I should be out protesting; however, due to COVID -19, I did not feel that would be the best choice for myself or my family.

My mother, who is 78 years old, lives with me and she participated in the workshop along with my 16-year-old daughter. We are all persons of color, and my Mother shared personal stories about the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960’s. My daughter even shared how she had done her part in social media protesting and had signed petitions. It was a special time between 3 generations and much was learned.

The conversation and sharing that came from the workshop was very healing for me. I will keep our signs that we did on the AWBW templates in a scrapbook to look at years from now and be reminded of that special bonding time and moment in history.

I want to thank AWBW for quickly responding to the current events, realizing the need for this workshop and providing the AWBW family and community with this outlet.
