Taking Away Her Abuser’s Power

A 16-year-old girl was referred to our art session because of prior sexual abuse.

We spent a lot of time focusing on anger and how that was expressed. She shared what she saw or how the individual causing harm looked. She used this image to discredit them and take away their power. Before we finished the art session she asked if we could rip it up so she could release her anger.

To say the least it was super empowering to watch her take control and not give that individual power anymore.
