Permission to Paint

Being a teen is hard enough to go through. This 15-year-old-girl and her family were here because of domestic violence.

The oldest of the children in her family, she did not want to do Pass the Painting. She said, “My teacher said that I don’t know how to paint and should not paint.”

I proceeded to share with her that “You don’t have to be an artist to paint this.” As we got started she was a little afraid to paint anything on the paper. After a while she started to really enjoy painting.

When we finished she said, “I wish I could do this all the time.”
