Identity Masks is a workshop that is all about reflecting on the different aspects of our life and all the roles we play as a friend, husband/wife, brother/sister, mom/dad, and/or our role at work.
I have done this workshop with first responders, veterans and people with substance use disorders. We also did it with our board members. For me it was a process of reflecting that yes, I am a first responder, but I am also a wife, nature lover….
This one got pretty deep because as first responders we do not want to take things home to our families, so some people put things like barbed wire over their mouths because they feel like they have to keep the pain in and can’t talk about it. This workshop was a way for them to open up and talk about how they are feeling and what they go through every day.
