Shining Bright Through Art

The What Makes Me Shine art workshop was facilitated virtually with a very special and bright young child. The participant was so expressive and imaginative about the things that make her shine.

The participant increased identification of personal strengths and positive self-concept as a result of this workshop. She demonstrated adaptive coping through creative expression while designing her creation. She actively participated in drawing, coloring, and identifying positive personal qualities.

The child demonstrated pride in completed artwork and responded positively to praise and encouragement from her facilitator. She showed persistence when navigating technological difficulties and successfully utilized new tools (e.g., highlighter feature, Zoom whiteboard) with minimal prompting.

The participant created art work in the traditional way with her color pad and virtually using the Zoom whiteboard feature. “I feel happy,” she said.
