Coping Cubes for Students

5th-grade students participated in a 7-week counseling group called Healing Through Art. The 5th-graders who participated in the group identified experiencing big emotions, high stress, and low self-esteem. The goal was to gain coping skills to minimize stress by the end of the 7-week session.

The group participated in creating their own Coping Cube. The goal and intention were established before the students were free to create. The students enjoyed the activity and had fun along the way. It was awesome seeing the kiddos come up with their own coping strategies. Each student had the opportunity to share with the group what they created.

Since the group has ended, the students have shared gratitude for the group and asked if they can continue doing counseling through art. It was wonderful to hear great feedback from the activities. More art groups and workshops will be rolling out before the end of the school year.
