Comfort Journal Tags

For this workshop, I chose to do the “Comfort Journals” activity. I love getting to do these workshops myself because it’s been therapeutic for me.

Before I started the activity I did some breathing exercises while playing soft music throughout my space to feel more relaxed. After I was settled in and feeling grounded, I began the activity of answering questions from the journaling handout and reflecting on what brings me comfort.

Reflecting on these questions brought me a sense of joy and calmness. The main thing that kept coming up for me was the feeling of being cozy. Answering these questions on the handout helped me to be fully present and able to reflect on the people in my life who mean a lot to me. Doing this portion of the activity helped me to feel grounded and got me ready to start the next portion of the activity which was getting to create my own tag.

I designed my tag using markers, crayons, pens and colored pencils. I tried to design my tag to feel connected to what I wrote down on the journaling worksheet. I wanted to draw images that brought me that cozy feeling and create a tag with the specific colors that brought me comfort. I went with the fall theme because it’s the season that brings me the most comfort and gives me that sense of peace and joy.

After doing the journaling portion and designing my own tag, it made me feel more present with myself and gave me the inspiration to continue to journal in my free time.
