A Greater Hope (AGH) turned a crisp autumn day into a high-energy celebration of care and connection, welcoming 174 attendees to its Fall Family Fair. The inaugural event was a lively blend of art, health, safety, and just-plain fun that put AGH’s whole-family mission front and center.
From DJ Spintronic’s first beat to the last taco from Isai’s Food Truck, the event pulsed with music and movement. AGH’s ecosystem of services that meet families where they are were highlighted throughout the event. One attendee said, “I appreciate this event. The food and music is good. The people are great and the set up was so nice. Plus, we love the resources that A Greater Hope is giving us.”
Art also set the tone. AGH’s A Window Between Worlds facilitators led a Fall Leaf & Hand Mandala workshop, where tables bloomed with warm colors. “It was calming and nice to see children do arts and crafts,” one person shared. Nearby, Behavioral Health Specialists guided 137 participants through another activity, this one called Gingerbread Feelings Identification. This interactive skill building activity helped kids explore their coping skills.
Actionable care was within arm’s reach all day. Families visited 21 community booths where they received gentle, low-light vision screenings from Loma Linda’s pediatric team, hands-on CPR demos from American Medical Response, and car seat support from Community Health Action Network. Guests also accessed blood pressure screenings, Enhanced Care Management & Community Supports, Prevention & Early Intervention mindfulness activities, Medi-Cal enrollment, and more – AGH’s one-stop runway to real care.
The first 100 people to arrive at the fair received fresh pumpkins for the first 100 attendees. All guests enjoyed the photobooth, Listos emergency-readiness kits, treats from Kona Ice and a huge raffle giv away with $5,000+ in prizes. Prizes included a Nintendo Switch, gift baskets, dozens of gift cards, and a 65″ TV that brought the biggest cheer. “Oh my gosh! Ilyana,” a mom excitedly exclaimed, jumping up and down, “I told you I had a good feeling about winning today!”
It was more than a fair. The day was AGH in action. Families left with appointments booked, skills learned, screenings completed, and community ties strengthened.
